Have You Seen Jim Meehan's 1976 H-D?
82 yr. old Jim Meehan wants to ride again. Jim has been riding a H-D since he was honorably discharged from the Army in 1948 - until his 1976 H-D with blue sidecar was stolen July 5th in Harrington Maine.
Jim often gave the senior shutins a ride in the sidecar. Jim's biggest fear is whoever stole his Harley will ruin the pristine condition of his ride.
The Washington County Sherriff's Department in Maine said they did not have much to go on in this case. But that was before Joe Oborny of HDBikerForums.com launched an all-out Internet biker media campaign from his home base in the Pacific Northwest.
"Bikers let's unite & help find the scumbags that stole Jim Meehan's 1976 H-D," Joe said in his appeal to fellow internet biker media. The alert was picked up by Charlie Brechtel of BikersInnerCircle.com in California and broadcast nationwide.
But the first solid lead came from a post by "Gypsy Pashn" Betsy E Lister of BikerBits.info who is based in New England. One of her readers reported a 1976 H-D for sale on craigslist not too far from the crime. The Washington County Sherrif's Department followed up on the lead, July 10th but apparently the vin numbers did not match.
